The storyline: New York found a way to hang in the game despite two interceptions thrown by quarterback Mark Sanchez -- his first two of the season -- and pulled out a critical road win to take the league's best record (5-1) into its bye week. Running back LaDainian Tomlinson, who tormented the Broncos for nine years when he was with the San Diego Chargers by scoring 19 touchdowns in 18 games, added two more on the ground to keep that trend going.
Key moment: Just when it looked like the Broncos had survived New York's comeback attempt by breaking up a 4th-and-6 pass from Sanchez to Santonio Holmes the yellow flag hit the ground signifying a pass interference penalty on Broncos safety Renaldo Hill. One play later Tomlinson carried the ball into the end zone from 2 yards out for his second touchdown of the day to give the Jets the win.
Key stat: In a game this close where the statistics were pretty much even across the board, the difference just might have been a missed field goal by Denver's Matt Prater from 49 yards in the third quarter. Prater had a streak of 18 consecutive made field goals, the second longest in franchise history behind Jason Elam's 19.
Where they stand: The Jets are riding a five-game winning streak since losing their season opener at home to the Baltimore Ravens by one point and now have an extra week to get Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis' left hamstring healthier.
Notable: Nick Folk's 56-yard field goal that tied the game at 10-10 in the third quarter eclipsed the franchise record of 55 yards by one yard, and that had been done four times previously, most recently by Jay Feely last season. Denver only had nine defenders on the field. ... The Jets' once vaunted run defense surrendered 145 yards on the ground to the Broncos, with Knowshon Moreno leading the way with 48 yards on 12 carries.
