Running back LeSean McCoy shook off his broken rib and Kevin Kolb, starting for injured quarterback Michael Vick, led the young Philadelphia Eagles to a 27-24 victory over the host San Francisco 49ers, a victory that allowed the Eagles to keep pace with the Washington Redskins and the New York Giants atop the NFC East.Alex Smith floated an interception into the Philadelphia secondary with less than 30 seconds left to end a late 49ers' comeback.
Kolb tied the game in the first quarter, rolling to his right to avoid Manny Lawson's rush and finding tight end Brent Celek for an 8-yard touchdown. After David Akers put Philadelphia ahead with a field goal, McCoy burst up the middle for a 29-yard touchdown to make it 17-7.
After Kolb was sacked by Travis LaBoy for an 8-yard loss late in the third quarter with the Eagles only leading by a touchdown, he made like pass/run threat Vick and scooted or 19 yards on third-and-18.
