Dee Hart, Prized Orlando RB, Commits to Michigan Over Alabama

Coveted high school running back Dee Hart has announced that he will attend the University of Michigan next year, it was reported by numerous media outlets on Friday.

Earlier in the week, the Orlando Sentinel reported that Hart, via a text message, said he was "leaning toward Alabama." But after rushing for 267 yards and scoring four touchdowns in a 45-0 win by his Dr. Phillips High team over Boone Friday evening, Hart, of Orlando, Fla., revealed he would be taking his prized football talents to Michigan.

Perhaps one of the biggest deciding factors for Hart's change of heart is that he seems to fit more into Michigan's spread-option offense better than he might fit into Alabama's offensive scheme. Plus, former Phillips teammate Ricardo Miller is now a receiver at Michigan and that is also believed to have played into Hart's decision.

One recruiting analyst said Hart may graduate early from high school, most likely in January, so that he'd be eligible to take part in Michigan spring practice in about seven months.

Hart is 5-9 and 185 pounds. He possesses 4.4 speed, which serves him well both in running with the ball and as a kick returner. Rivals.com ranks him as the No. 1 all-purpose back in the country, while ESPN.com and Scout.com rank him No. 9.

Including Friday night's game, Hart has now rushed for 836 yards and 16 touchdowns in Phillips' first five games. He is the 11th high school player to commit to Michigan for 2011 admission.
