Terrell Suggs: NFL Favors Tom Brady, Peyton Manning

Terrell Suggs is no stranger to speaking his mind, no matter how many microphones are in front of him. Most recently, he accused the league of showing favoritism to its top two quarterbacks.

"The league has their favorites," he said. "One being in Indy and one being with that other team up north. Besides those two, everybody is fair game. Some quarterbacks are getting the calls right away. Some quarterbacks they don't care.

"Like I always said, Carson Palmer got his in his knee in 2005 but there was no rule made. Then Tom Brady got hit in his knee and all of a sudden there is a rule and possible suspensions, excessive fines -- it's just getting ridiculous."

Suggs' information is incorrect -- after Palmer's injury, the league did adjust the rule to protect quarterbacks further, saying a defender couldn't hit a quarterback at or below the knee unless he was blocked into such a situation. After Brady's injury, it was adjusted further to prevent defenders on the ground from lunging at a quarterback's legs.

Still, Suggs is just another in a growing line of players expressing dismay at the league's attempt to discipline physicality. Suggs' division rival, Hines Ward, said Wednesday that the league is hypocritical and doesn't care about players.
