INDIANAPOLIS - Cowboys rookie wide receiver Dez Bryant had to be helped off the field during Dallas' overtime win at Indianapolis after injuring himself on a kick return. The Cowboys announced later in the game that Bryant had suffered a fractured right ankle, according to FOX's Pam Oliver.ESPN.com's Todd Archer cited multiple sources saying Bryant will undergo season-ending surgery Monday to repair the fracture.
Bryant was unavailable for comment after the game.
Bryant was injured when he was tackled awkwardly at the end of a 21-yard return. Indianapolis' Kavell Conner grabbed Bryant by the right leg, then appeared to roll over top of Bryant's ankle as he pulled him down. The Cowboys' training staff immediately tended to Bryant on the field, then helped him hop off without putting any weight on his right leg.
