The selection committee at the Boxing Hall of Fame broke with tradition this week when it decided that Rocky Balboa would be inducted into the shrine.
Trouble is Rocky Balboa is fictional.
Rocky is the iconic character created by Sylvester Stallone, who wrote the Rocky screenplays.
Far be it for anyone to quibble with the selection of Rocky into the boxing shrine. Rocky introduced boxing to a generation of people.
Rocky is an American legend. He is an icon.
There is precedent, sort of, for having actors in a hall of fame. There is a recording of Abbott & Costello' famous "Who's On First" recording in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
That said, we'd like to bring the following figures to the attention of the selection committee for the Hockey Hall of Fame:
