Phil Simms to Miss Sunday CBS Assignment Following Back Surgery

CBS' lead NFL analyst Phil Simms will not work Sunday's game because of a back ailment, the network announced Wednesday.

Simms, who led the New York Giants to a win in Super Bowl XXV, will not join Jim Nantz for the Oakland-San Diego game, as he will be recuperating from previously scheduled back surgery, CBS announced. Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Fouts will fill in for Simms, who is expected to return the following week.
