Derrell Johnson-Koulianos, Iowa's all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards, has been arrested by Iowa City Police on multiple counts of possession of controlled substances, keeping a drug house and unlawful possession of prescription drugs.Johnson-Koulianos is being held in the Johnson County Jail and is expected to make an initial court appearance Wednesday morning. He's being held on $8,000 bail.
"I am highly disappointed to learn of the charges. Derrell has been suspended from all team activities," Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said in a statement Tuesday evening.
Johnson-Koulianos caught 46 passes for 745 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2010, good enough for first-team All-Big Ten honors. In his career, he caught 173 passes for 2,616 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Iowa entered the season with high expectations -- which included national championship aspirations -- but finished 7-5 after losing its last three games. The Hawkeyes will square off against Missouri in the Insight Bowl, but it appears they will do so without their top receiving threat.
