ARLINGTON, Texas -- Edgar Renteria's home run supported Tim Lincecum's dominant pitching Monday, giving the Giants their first World Series title since moving to San Francisco in 1958 with a 3-1 defeat of the Rangers.Renteria snapped a scoreless tie in the seventh inning by hitting a 2-0 cut fastball from Cliff Lee. Cody Ross and Juan Uribe singled to start the inning and moved up on Aubrey Huff's first big-league sacrifice bunt. Pat Burrell then struck out before Renteria's homer to left-center.
Lincecum, who also won Game 1, allowed three hits and struck out 10 in eight innings, with the only baserunner to go past first base on Nelson Cruz's solo homer in the seventh. Brian Wilson closed it out in the ninth.
Renteria was named the Most Valuable Player of the World Series.
