U.S. District Court Judge Claude M. Hilton released Espinoza, who faces up to 13 years in prison on the two felony counts, on her own recognizance. Espinoza is scheduled to return to court Feb. 18 for sentencing. The family of Ashley Roberta, the 22-year-old Maryland resident killed in the Oct. 2009 crash, and possibly Davies, will give victim impact statements.
"Broken, broken, broken," Jan Roberta, Ashley's mother, told reporters outside the courtroom. "That's how (Espinoza) left our family."
