The Vancouver Whitecaps, set to make the jump from second division play to Major League Soccer in 2011, will announce the addition of U.S. national team veteran Jay DeMerit on Thursday morning.The DeMerit-to-Vancouver rumors started nearly two months ago, when speculation about the 30-year-old's flagging career shifted from England and Germany toward MLS.
He was released from his contract with England's Watford prior to the World Cup, and despite a solid performance in South Africa, DeMerit was unable to find a club.
He has not played a game since the World Cup.
