It turns out Stanford's win over the Connecticut women's basketball team Thursday made history on a pair of fronts. Not only did the Cardinal snap the Huskies' record 90-game win streak, but the game was the most watched regular-season women's basketball game in ESPN history.
The game posted a 1.5 metered market Nielsen overnight rating, besting a 1.4 rating garnered by a Connecticut-Duke game played Feb. 1, 2003. ESPN reports that the last 15 minutes of the game did a 3.1 rating.
Thursday's contest, won by Stanford 71-59, will re-air Friday at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN Classic.
