Seattle Seahawks Wary of Chicago Bears' LB Lance Briggs in Rematch

RENTON, Wash. - Players and coaches both agree that it's generally a good idea not to have too long a memory. So it comes as no surprise that the Seattle Seahawks are downplaying their last visit to Chicago, a 23-20 win over the Bears back on Oct. 17.

However, Seattle now heads to Chicago for a Sunday playoff game with the Bears secure in the knowledge that they can win in Chicago because the Seahawks have done it. At the same time, Seattle is quick to point out that that was then and this is now.

"I think it's good for us that we've been there,'' tight end Jon Carlson said. "We've been through it, we've done the travel thing.
We've proven to ourselves that we can go into that stadium and beat this team. With that being said though, it's a completely, completely new game. It's playoff time. They're not going to underestimate us, so it'll be a battle.''

Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck threw for 242 yards in that one and wide receiver Mike Williams had a breakout game with 10 catches for 123 yards.

As something of a cautionary tale, however, Hasselbeck is quick to note the difference in the Bears this time around. Chicago's defense will have a healthy and hungry Lance Briggs at linebacker. He sat out the first game with a badly sprained left ankle, but he's not so hampered now.

"He's huge,'' Hasselbeck said when asked about Briggs' impact on the Bears' defense. "I think he's arguably one of the best defensive players in the game. I think he's a great player. Going into that (Oct. 17) game, we fully expected him to play. He didn't play and that was a big deal. For us to sit back and say, 'Oh, hey we beat them at their place, we can do it again,' that would be a dangerous way to feel because Lance Briggs did not play in that game. He is a big, big time difference maker and a great football player. So as hard as this game is going to be, the fact that he's back up takes it to a whole another level.''
