Sean Couturier, Top 2011 NHL Draft Prospect, Has Hometown Support

TORONTO -- Sean Couturier will carry more than his dreams of playing in the NHL when he steps onto the ice at the Air Canada Centre for the CHL-NHL Top Prospects Game on Wednesday.

Couturier will carry the hopes and aspirations of the fiercely proud Acadian community in northern New Brunswick in Canada's Maritime Provinces.

The Acadians used to have a hometown hero as a role model, but a motorcycle accident in 2008 killed NHL rookie Luc Bourdon. The accident deprived northern New Brunswick of a star who was both an inspiration and ambassador for the Acadians.

That role has now fallen to Couturier, a forward with the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the Quebec Major Junior League who is pegged to be a top-five pick in the NHL Draft in June.
