The announcement should come as no surprise to anyone who's followed Salt Lake's stellar defensive effort this year, or anyone who simply takes a look at the MLS standings.
RSL conceded just twenty goals during the regular season, six better than its closest rival (the Los Angeles Galaxy yielded 26) and a league record. The team never allowed more than two goals in a single match.
Olave (photo, right) is a hugely important piece of RSL's nearly unsolvable defensive puzzle. At 6-2, 210 pounds, he looks like he belongs on a rugby field instead of a soccer pitch. He is, to say the least, an intimidating figure.
